Cian Attwood’s mother, Kriss Hodgson, was given leaflets on blood pressure, cancer and heart disease following a NHS test at his school which deemed him “very overweight.”Ms Hodgson was ‘disgusted’ and ‘upset’ when he brought the letter home from school following the test carried out under the Government’s campaign to tackle child obesity.It told her Cian was classed as ‘clinically obese’ as his body mass index put him in the 99th percentile.

Ms Hodgson, 27, from Overdale, Shropshire, said: “He was weighed at school and shortly after I had a letter through the post saying he was clinically obese.

“They sent me through all sorts of information on diabetes, heart attacks and cancer. But look at him, there’s not an ounce of fat on him.

“Its getting ridiculous what they are telling children at such a young age – it is damaging to them. I don’t want my children to grow up to be anorexic.

“They’re making everybody think they need to be celebrity size zero’s and its going to give people eating disorders.”
