A six-year-old boy was dumped ‘shivering and crying’ in the snow with no shoes by thieves who had stolen his father’s car while he sat in the passenger seat, a court heard.
Walsall Magistrates’ Court was told how the boy’s father faced a frantic few minutes when his car was stolen before the youngster was found shivering at the side of the road by a family friend.
Paul Russell, 40, was jailed for 16 weeks after police found him driving the VW Passat shortly afterwards, while twice the legal drink-drive limit – but he claimed he had come across the car after it had been dumped and did not take it with the child inside.
