An average family spends less than an hour a day together, according to a survey.
It found that typically parents and children are together for just 49 minutes, hardly enough time to share a meal.
Nearly half of all parents blame their other half for failing to devote enough time to the family, and more than two thirds say money pressures get in the way of family life.
The National Family Week campaign which carried out the poll described the findings as ‘worrying’.
They followed last week’s disclosure that the number of mothers over 40 has trebled in 20 years as the earning power of women has become more and more important to couples and families.
The campaign’s report said: ‘The biggest issue facing parents when it comes to spending quality time is money, with 68 per cent citing it as a barrier to spending time with family. … Continue reading
