Step 1
Contact us at parentpages to let us know that you would like to become a Parent Pager in your area. Tell us the precise borough/district that you live in or the area in which you would like to become a Parent Pager. Before becoming a Parentpages Editor you will need to start as a contributor. wendy@parentpages.co.uk
Step 2
Once we have replied to you confirming that your area is available, we would like you to either send us a CV if you have one ready, or alternatively you can write a short paragraph about yourself, or a link to your Blogspot if you are a blogger! We would just like to have a little bit of information about you, before we take things a step further
Step 3
We can arrange a time to give you a call, to speak to you a little more about the opportunities and areas available with Parentpages.
Step 4
Once we have both accepted the terms and conditions we will send you a confidentiality agreement, which you will need to read, sign and return. You will then be issued with a unique password which will allow you access to the all the existing listings in your borough.
Step 5
Once you have your password you will be able to manage all records in your area. You will be able to delete old records, and add new listings. You will be able to find out what is going on in your area, by accumulating information from various non-specialist websites and family resources, council lists, noticeboards, magazines and schools, forums and social networking such as facebook and twitter. This research can be lots of fun, very rewarding and very sociable! There are lots of helpful mums out there.
Step 6
Your next step will be to contact local groups in different areas within your community to see if they would be happy to distribute our leaflets and postcards advertising parentpages. Each leaflet will be printed with your unique code so you will be able to track the response. You could ask your local schools, NCT groups, nurseries, and scout groups. Organising competitions for children will give schools a little more incentive. We can help you do this.
Step 7
Set up a local area Facebook and Twitter account for Parentpages and let local people know what’s going on for children in your area. If you have the enthusiasm and confidence, you could contact the local papers and local radio stations to tell them what you are doing and how the site can help the local community.
Step 8
Give local companies and organisations a ring, or send and email, and encourage them to check that all their online details are correct and up-to-date. If they decide that they would like to advertise you may want to guide them through the process or better still, do it for them.
Step 9
If you enjoy managing your area, and have the motivation and energy to become a Parent Pages Editor you will then be able to recruit contributors in various areas within your borough. This will ensure that all areas of your borough are covered. More contributors will help publicise the site locally and encourage advertising. You may find that some schools have a PTA representative who would be happy to take on this role, with % advertising revenue going straight to school funds. The school may also be happy to distribute leaflets to their pupils.
Step 10
If you are approved as an Editor you will now be able to write local pages for each community within your borough, write and post blogs on our A-Z Parent Guide, or invite guest bloggers to contribute. All advertising revenue generated from advertiser text links on local page updates and blogs is 100% yours to keep, but must adhere to the terms and conditions of our site
