The number of young entrepreneurs starting up their own business has increased by almost a quarter in the past three years – but most do not last long, new research shows.
Almost half of the new ventures are wound up within two-and-a-half years and a further fifth fail after three years, information services firm Experian said.

The five teenagers were each handed 18-month custody terms for the robbery

Crunk Juce (short for crazy drunk) is an alcoholic energy drink as strong as wine and growing in popularity among teens.
The teenagers – the youngest of whom was just 13 when the robbery took place – left their shopkeeper victim so terrified that he is no longer able to leave the house alone.
They can be named after a judge lifted reporting restrictions due to the seriousness of their offence.
A court heard how the gang discussed plans to steal Crunk Juice, an strong alcoholic energy drink, from a newsagent’s. Daniel Flint, aged 15 at the time, sent a text to Joshua Quinn, 14, saying: ‘We are going to rob him for his crunk juice and fags, you on it?’

A teenager who lives with Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism, is appearing in a BBC Newsround special which aims to raise awareness about the condition.
Rosie King, 13, and her mother Sharon, say they hope it will give people a greater understanding about the many different forms of autism.
Rosie, who aspires to be an actress, is shown introducing her part in the film.

Maths teaching is so poor that teenagers can leave school dangerously ignorant, an exam board chief has claimed.
Many are unable to calculate a 25 per cent discount or a correct dosage of medication, he said.
Mark Dawe, chief executive of the OCR exam board, launched a scathing attack yesterday on the national maths curriculum in schools, a subject his organisation tests.
He said employers can no longer assume that a grade C, or higher, in GCSE maths guarantees a reasonable level of competence.
‘Many [school leavers] are stumped by 25 per cent discounts or 33 per cent extra free,’ he said.
