Jeremy Clarkson’s ex-wife yesterday said finding out he had got an injunction to stop her writing about him was ‘terrifying’.
Alex Hall, 46, said she felt the 51-year-old Top Gear presenter’s behaviour was ‘hugely cavalier’, in evidence to Parliament’s Joint Committee on Privacy and Injunctions.
She said one of her children had to leave a job while another had to take two weeks out of school to avoid the publicity it led to.
Ms Hall said she only found out Clarkson had got an injunction when she received a late-night text message.
It told her to check her email, which contained a message giving details of the 20-page gagging order.
Ms Hall’s marriage to Clarkson ended before he was famous but she had maintained a ‘serious relationship’ with him after his marriage to his second wife, she told the committee.
