‘Mmmmwahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Come here, you.’
This is how Jo Frost greets you when you first meet her. She grabs both your hands and dives right in, nuzzling you on the cheek.
‘Come on. Don’t be shy. Give your Jo-Jo a kiss.’
Resistance is futile. ‘That’s more like it. Waahhhaaahhhhaaammhhh!’ At least that’s the way she greets you if you’re a small baby.
Adults have to make do with a throaty laugh and handshake. ‘We’re talking later, right?’ she says, before diving back into the serious business of rubbing babynoses and cooing with the new mother who’s dropped by to say hello.
We are in a vast studio somewhere amid the palm trees and industrial hinterland of Long Beach, just one of the many stops on Frost’s LA itinerary of promotional duties.
Earlier, she was in Hollywood filming introductory segments for a new television show. Later, she’s driving back to Beverly Hills for a meeting with network executives. The following week, she will fly off to assist her 100th family for the fifth season of the US version of Supernanny…. Continue reading
